Ang Lee : Life of Pi

Ang Lee is a Taiwanese film director. He was born in 1954 in Pingtung County, southern Taiwan. He studied filmmaking in the United States during his college years. His debut film was Pushing Hands in 1991. Some of his famous films are Brokeback Mountain (2005) and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (2000).

Life of Pi is a movie that was released in 2012. It stars Suraj Sharma in the lead role. The movie won the 85th Academy Award for Best Director. It grossed about $600 million at the box office.

Pi and his family were going to Canada on a cargo ship to emigrate. But on the way, they have a maritime accident and Pi is the only survivor. He ends up wandering the seas with the tiger on a lifeboat.

I like the way this movie is presented. The beautiful nature is expressed with lavish 3DCG. Especially the water images are fantastic and very beautiful. I think it is very impressive. The way the story is presented is also very elaborate, so it is interesting to see it in many different ways depending on the person. It can be enjoyed not only once but many times.
